Over the past year, in addition to teaching, I’ve been working tirelessly on a massive project. Last summer, what started as some relaxing after-graduation doodles quickly turned into a much bigger dream: I decided to illustrate and publish my own coloring books.

I wanted the books to be relaxing, fun, and suitable for ALL ages, while combining my love for world cultures and travel. Each page features a cute, cozy scene with a little monkey named Dangles visiting countries around the world. After spending over six months perfecting every illustration, the books have finally arrived!

I really want to emphasize that these books aren’t just for kids. Part of my inspiration came from my frustration with overwhelming zentangle-style “adult” coloring books. So, whether you’re looking for a new cozy hobby for 2025 or a unique gift for someone special, this could be the perfect choice.

Colleen Ryan-Jones is a local artist who uses a variety of mediums to create unique expressive pieces of art. Born and raised in Chicago she studied Art throughout her private schooling. She also studied at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Colleen's ultimate goal to to use her art to raise awareness of Mental Health issues. She believes art should be affordable for everyone to enjoy and sells her art at an economical cost for this reason. For the past 6 years Colleen has become a proud Pretzel community member. She serves as an Ambassador for the Greater Freeport Partnership in order to give back to the people of Freeport who have been so welcoming and inspiring for both her Art and the business that she manages, Flachtemeier Monument Company.
