What it is:
The Farmers Market Cross Pollination Adventure App ( I know, mouthful of a name) is an upgrade on last years physical Farmers Market Passport!
What to do:
Download the free app, and sign up! You can choose to do it as an individual or as a team! When choosing your name/team name, it would be super great if you entered your home market abbreviation. Ex. Stephenson County Farmers Market is SCFM.
Then GO EXPLORE! Different businesses are unlocked after checking in at most markets, because if you drive all the way to another town, you’re probably going to explore more than just the market.
What the points mean:
Honestly, I haven’t decided yet. But I do have some market cash laying around that would certainly love to land in the hands of the scoreboard leaders :) Really this is just to encourage people to go outside of their box, support local producers and businesses.
What Cross-Pollination is:
We all live in this world. We all live in our communities. We all participate in the economy. The goal is to use that power we have as humans and consumers, to spend our dollars where the dollars will be in turn spent back into our community. Dollars spent at corporations don’t stay in our communities, but dollars spent at local businesses do. (There is much more to say on this, but you can do your own research.)
